blog post encouraging charities to consider the
opportunities and risks in using AI.

On 1 March the Government announced that phase 3
of the Charities Act 2022 would come into force on 7
March. The key parts of phase three relate to making
changes to charities’ governing documents: the 2022
Act aligns the procedure for charitable companies, CIOs
and unincorporated charities.
The other provisions that came into force on 7 March
relate to the disposal of charity land, charity mergers,
payments to trustees and trustee appointments. (The
implementation of the ex gratia provisions has been
previously delayed, but these are now due to come
into force on 19 May 2024).

On 4 March the Charity Commission issued new
guidance regarding charities accepting donations.
Orlando Fraser KC, Chair of the Charity Commission
said: “When charities are offered a donation, the law
is clear that their starting point should be to accept
